Clutch Kits

Performance means different things for different riders. For us at Vauhti Varikko it means fast trail riding, driving in mud/skeg without bogging the motor down or slipping the belt. For most customers, performance just means being able to go really fast. You get the picture!

Why you need a Clutch Kit ?

When manufacturers try to figure out how to calibrate the clutches on every model they sell, they don’t have an easy job. Manufacturers must design their clutches to work at over a wide range of use and users. One customer will hang a plow on the front and push snow or haul wood with timber trailer. Next one will install big mud tires and head to the mud / skeg or just goes to have some fun driving trails. I think you understand what I mean! Because manufacturers must consider such a wide range of users and different uses of ATV/UTV, it’s difficult to adjust the clutch to work at its best in all tasks.

Here’s where the clutch kits come along!

A table of our clutch kits

Stage 1 Clutch Kits

(Tires 25”-28”)

  • Entry level and excellent choice for basic use!
  • Great for trail riding, occasional mud and sand riding, plowing and hauling.
  • Smoother engagement!
  • Better low end and midrange response
  • Quicker backshift which results in crisp throttle response!
  • Reduces belt slip and heat!
  • Can be upgraded to Stage 2 or 3 by adding secondary spring or Helix.

Stage 2 Clutch Kits

(Tires 28”-34”)

  • Entry level for big tires and Mud / Skeg use.
  • Smoother Engagement
  • Makes up for the power loss and slowed response of using big tires.
  • Specially designed for mud and skeg use.
  • Better low-end power and torque to get tires turning in the mud.
  • Quicker backshift which results in crisp throttle response.
  • Reduces belt slip and heat!
  • Can be upgraded to Stage 3 by adding the right Helix.

Stage 3 Clutch Kits

  • BEST choice that you can get for Your ATV!!!
  • Helix is the most important part for controlling CVT upshifting and downshifting.
  • With the right Stage 3 set for your use, you can get the best performance and the best experience!

Thats why we have 3 options for you to choose, the best for your use!

Stage 3 Trail Kits

(Tires 25”-28”)

  • Our most popular, best all-around use kit helps to transfer the engine power better to the wheels!
  • BEST for trail riding, occasional mud and sand riding, plowing and hauling.
  • Smoother engagement!
  • The lower part of Helix will let you drive at low speed with higher rpm and therefore gives you more HP and Torque to the wheels.
  • The higher part of the helix is designed to give more, more and more upshifting with the same rate as your engine is making more power!
  • Better acceleration and overall feeling.
  • Quicker backshift which results in crisp throttle response!
  • Reduces belt slip and heat.
  • If you are not sure what kit to choose, then TRAIL kit is what you want.

Stage 3 Mud Kits

(Tires 28”-34”)

  • Big tire kit for Mud / Skeg use! Helps to transfer the engine power better to the wheels!
  • Smoother engagement!
  • The lower part of Helix will let you drive at low speed with higher rpm and therefore gives you more HP and Torque to the wheels. This will give you a lot of tire-turning torque to hammer through thick mud / Skeg.
  • The higher part of the helix is designed to give more and more upshifting with same rate as your engine is making more power!
  • Quicker backshift which results in crisp throttle response!
  • Reduces belt slip and heat.
  • This is the kit for you if you love riding in thick mud or have big tires!

Stage 3 Skeg Mönster Kits

(Tires 30”-34”)

  • For EXTREME users, when monster is not enough, MÖNSTER is even more!
  • Big tire kit for Mud / Skeg Mönsters! Helps to transfer the engine power best to the wheels!
  • The lower part of Helix will let you drive at low speed with higher rpm and therefore gives you more HP and Torque to wheels. This will give you a lot of tire-turning torque to hammer through thick mud / Skeg.
  • Higher part of helix is designed to give more upshifting with same rate than your engine is making more power!
  • Quicker backshift which results in crisp throttle response!
  • Reduces belt slip and heat.
  • Unintended wheelies can occur!
  • Will reduce your top speed.
  • This Mönster kit is for you if you live and breathe for Mud/Skeg riding.

Straight Helixes for getting linear upshifting behavior

  • 35° for mud use (For all engines)
  • 40° for mud use (For all engines)
  • 50° for small tires and fast acceleration (recommended for high horsepower two-cylinder engines)

Multiangle/progressive helix to get the best of both worlds!

  • Our multiangle/progressive helixes are designed to slow your upshifting under 25km/h speeds. To give more wheel horsepower at low speed!
  • And getting the engine to rev up and not bog down at too fast upshifting.
  • When speed increases over 25km/h, it’s giving more and more upshifting with same rate as your engine torque curve and horsepower is increasing!

That’s why there is a selection, so you can choose just the right one for you!

  • 40°-48° for all single cylinder, all-around use
  • 38°-52° for all two cylinders, all-around use
  • 32°-42° for SKEG MÖNSTERs
  • 43°-56° for On-Road use

Stage 1 Secondary spring

  • For models equipped with 27”-29” wheels.
  • You can add this later to your Stage 1 or Stage 3 Trail kit to make it work with big tires!
  • This is compatible with almost all CFMOTO secondary clutches and every model with CVTech LP3 secondary clutch.
  • Helps to maintain the optimal CVT transmission performance when changing the tire size to bigger ones.
  • Gives more belt grip for big tires.
  • Slows upshifting and corrects the gear ratio with big tires.
  • Lower belt temp when using big tires.

Stage 2 Secondary spring

  • For models equipped with 29”-34” wheels.

Notice

  • When installing larger diameter/heavy tires, it is recommended to change the CVT settings.
  • If the CVT settings are not changed, the clutch will try to upshift too soon, placing a heavy load on the CVT belt, which could end up with broken belt in the worst-case scenario.
  • If the CVT belt has broken for some reason, it has probably generated high heat in the CVT, which could also have effect on the clutch spring.
  •  A loose spring causes the clutch to engage too soon, and the transmission gearing changes too early, which usually can cause the new CVT belt to break.
  •  It’s recommended that the clutch’s springs should always be replaced in pairs with a new belt.
